Book Synopsis

Actor/composer Tom Mitchell is a modern-day misfit—a lovable rogue—often able to laugh at his own misfortunes. He has difficulty accepting authority, claiming he is allergic to big shots and phonies. Tom drinks a little, swears a lot and has a genuine knack for getting into trouble. His actions do not enhance his already fading movie career.

He is also tormented from loving two women at the same time—Mildred, the kind, wealthy widow, and Sally, the passionate, caring actress. JoBaby, beautiful but sexually manipulative, is another conflict looming in Tom’s troubled life.

Ida, a retired psychologist, helps Tom through the dark spots. She realizes Tom is a man without direction, without purpose. Will he face up to his own weaknesses and indecision or wander through life aimlessly, jeopardizing his chance for happiness?

Book Reviews

"Paul Cook’s Sally!—times four—the essence of true love rises from the pages for readers to feel. Love independent of youth, everlasting and nurtured in passion. With unmatched quirky humor and soul. Sally! causes your heart to pause, and wish to share the stories with your own true love. An absolutely beautiful, ingenious book."
—Bruce Steinberg, author of The Widow’s Son, Grand Prize Winner, Gardenia Press

"A master of characterization and dialogue, Paul Cook immediately pulls you into his Sally stories, letting readers feel as though they have made new friends. Wondrously, these characters stay with you long after you have finished the book."
—Beth Staas, author of The Two Percent Miracle

"Clear and refreshing. Imagine the creation of a comical Hemingway, a non-cynical Fitzgerald, a morally unleashed Hawthorne and you’ve got Sally!"
—Richard Holinger, Fiction writer, poet, columnist

"Oh how I wish Paul Cook’s romantic vision of the world would go on forever! It’s a place where love is true and never more than a moment away. These stories of Sally easily won my heart. It was love with the very first word." —Michael Balcom-Vetillo, Fiction writer, poet.

"Four women named Sally. Four exquisite love stories."
—Bonnie Harm-Pechous, Fiction, non-fiction, poet.
